Sunday Night Suds - Blue Moon Vanilla Wheat

This week's Sunday Night Suds looks at Blue Moon Vanilla Wheat.

I admit it, I am a sucker for new Blue Moon products, When I see that there is a display of a new Blue Moon seasonal mix boxes in a beer store, I immediately look to see whether there is a new seasonal variety included. This year, the good folks at Blue Moon have obliged by producing the Vanilla Wheat - a witbier with some added vanilla flavoring.

The beer poured a dark orange with some cloudiness which would be expected in a witbier. There are some bready malts and little to no hops or citrus - atypical for a Blue Moon product. The vanilla flavor works nicely with the faint banana phenols, but overall this beer tastes more like a diet soda than beer.

Blue Moon Vanilla Wheat is certified kosher by the Orthodox Union, as is every other current variety of beer produced by Blue Moon. For the experts take on this beer, please click here beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/306/183588.
